Aero & hydrodynamics

Exploiting a tried and tested short-float trimaran concept, Solar Odyssey‘s honeycomb carbon sandwich construction technology and evolutionary structure with photovoltaic cells makes for energy efficient navigation with her reduced displacement and faring.

Technique1

Solar energy

Concentrating on photovoltaic technology, energy will be produced by high efficiency silicon cells. Positioning of the collector and refraction surfaces have been the subject of in-depth study. The same goes for the conception of an innovative platform which is lightweight, efficient and strong.

Technique2

Energy storage & management

Solar Odyssey works with one of the world’s high performance storage cell specialists in order to have the most advanced technology at its fingertips. Based on Posibox by Lemer Pax, the development of dedicated modules of onboard systems has been carried out with ICAM, a major engineering institute in Nantes.

Technique3

Propulsion & steering

An electrical in-board engine coupled with a low-drag custom leg positioned at the main beam of the central hull with an automatic folding propeller, offers the trimaran an optimum propulsion. A special design blade fitted on the transom is used to steer the boat.
