Conceiving a prototype capable of crossing the Atlantic or sailing round the world on solar energy alone is indeed a major undertaking. The idea of setting a time limit on these voyages enhances the never-ending quest for performance in every area. It strikes at the very heart of the Solar Odyssey.

Solar Odyssey’s first campaign is to attempt the official transatlantic record of 29 days set by the 46 ft / 14 m long Swiss catamaran Sun 21 in 2007 between the Canary Isles and Martinique(WI) – and to be the first French boat to go down in the Guinness Book of records on this course.


World challenge

 

The second campaign is for Solar Odyssey to establish a 1st one hundred percent solar powered circumnavigation round the equator of more than 22 000 nautical miles (40 000 km) via Gibraltar, Panama, Tahiti, Australia, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, the Red Sea, Suez canal...
